The Wages Of Obedience

I have occasionally heard and said that the wages of serving God are out of this world. But some wages come to us here and now.

Luke 15:7: …joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth…10…there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth…

Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy…

Habakkuk 3:18: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

John 15:11: These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

Acts 20:24: But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy…

2 Corinthians 2:3: And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

James 1:2: My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations…

Some time ago I shared the gospel with a man who had been crushed between a pickup truck and a wall. He had a broken hip, a broken pelvis, a broken leg, internal injuries and great pain. His first words after receiving Christ were: This is the best day of my life! There was joy in my heart. It was a great day for me too.

Spurgeon: God is a good paymaster; He pays His servants while at work as well as when they have done it; and one of His payments is this: an easy conscience.
